Master of Arts in Political Science

This program is delivered by the CU Denver College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Center for New Directions in Politics & Public Policy in Lone Tree.

The New Directions Master of Arts in Political Science and the graduate-level Public, Nonprofit and Community Leadership certificate emphasize the role of politics and political awareness as the sine qua non in the development of leadership competencies necessary to address the changing public priorities of the 21st century.

The programs are geared toward those currently working in the public or nonprofit sector, as well as those who are considering these areas for professional careers.

Students can either pursue the master’s program or the graduate certificate. All certificate hours can be transferred for completion of the degree program, if the student desires to continue with his/her education.

Graduates of the master’s program find careers in city, town and county management, policy analysis, nonprofit leadership, for-profit leadership, intergovernmental relations, and similar related fields. Our students desire to make a difference and find leadership positions with organizations where this is a part of their everyday professional lives.

Completion of the graduate certificate helps students gain a valuable credential for workplace advancement while enhancing their leadership skills for the coming century.

The Center for New Directions in Politics and Public Policy prepares leaders for the 21st century while accommodating the busy schedules and learning styles of working adults. Graduates of our programs find positions in local government management and policy analysis, and other fields of leadership to help create strong communities. The center is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver.
