Our location in south Denver helps meet several university strategic priorities, including growing and developing new programs that match changing demographics and meet the pressing needs of our local communities.

Who operates CU South Denver?

The University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) operates the facility on behalf of the University of Colorado system. Effective January 2015, The Wildlife Experience building and property were donated to the university. The gift — valued at $40 million — is the largest real estate donation in the history of CU. The building, located at I-25 along Lincoln Ave., is now named CU South Denver.

Is The Wildlife Experience still open? Can I visit?

Yes. The Wildlife Experience is now CU South Denver, and the art and natural history museum and Giant Screen Movie Theater remain open to the public.

Will memberships continue under CU?

CU is committed to meeting the interests and needs of students, businesses and organizations in the area. Ongoing input is being solicited from the south Denver community for desired courses and programs. Courses are offered for degree-seeking and continuing education students and include popular-interest areas such as nursing, engineering, education and business as well as high-demand core courses for undergraduate students.

Which CU campuses offer higher education classes at CU South Denver?

All four campuses of the University of Colorado — CU Anschutz Medical Campus, CU Boulder, CU Colorado Springs and CU Denver — offer classes at CU South Denver. Course offerings are always being added, so check back often.

Do I need to apply for admission to CU to take classes at CU South Denver?

Each campus offering classes at CU South Denver has its own admission and registration procedures. Details are provided with the individual degree and program offerings. What classroom space is located in CU South Denver?

CU added classrooms for the fall 2014 semester. A second-floor gallery area was converted into two 48-seat classrooms and a 32-seat computer lab as well as a faculty and student resource center. The classrooms are modern and spacious, complemented by a student lounge and study area. An area in the lower level was converted into a state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab. Overall, CU renovated 11,000 square feet of the 151,000-square-foot facility. In 2015, additional renovations provided more classrooms plus faculty offices and student study rooms.

What are the hours of CU South Denver?

The museum and Movie Theater are open to the public 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. seven days a week, closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. The building has extended hours for CU students.

Can I get something to eat at CU South Denver?

Yes. The Café serves a variety of options during the day.

Where is CU South Denver located?

 CU South Denver is conveniently located one mile east of I-25 along Lincoln Ave., 10035 Peoria St., in Lone Tree. The nearest RTD Light Rail station is Lincoln. RTD also offers bus service from the Lincoln Light Rail station to CU South Denver.

Is parking available? Is there a cost? How about bike facilities?

Free parking is available in the CU South Denver parking lot, located on the south side of the facility. Limited bike parking is also available.
